DHS Old Boys Athletics Club

Established in 1996, the DHS Old Boys Athletics Club (aka “Oldies”) was formulated by a group of good friends hailing from Durban High School who established the premise that perhaps getting a few kilometres under the belt would be a suitable preamble to their regular gents’ gatherings & drinks in Durban North.

Word certainly spread and the club quickly developed into a well-respected, competitive and fun-filled running fraternity that treasures its members and the excellent comradery that everyone enjoys on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.

For the past numbers of years, we have been privileged enough to be affiliate members of the Northwood Crusaders Sports Club (NCSC) in Durban North, giving us a base facility from where we organise clubs runs, socials and even official Kwa-Zulu Natal Athletics (KZNA) events.

Being predominantly a club that encourages its members to run Comrades, this by no means a prerequisite to join. We cater for runners from all walks of life, ranging from speedsters to the more “human-paced” runners. Club training runs are organised weekly on Wednesday evenings at 17H20 from NCSC and the longer Saturday morning runs at 05H00 / 05H15, starting at various locations in a bid to keep routes fresh.

The club prides itself in informative communication via WhatsApp and e-mail where each member receives club-specific events and training regimes including KZNA and other information related to sponsored events within KZN and Nationally.
